Mission Statement
Maastricht Law and Philosophy Platform

picture

The Maastricht Law and Philosophy Platform (MLP²) is an open forum for the discussion of theoretical and foundational issues in legal research. It offers an institutional framework which enables researchers and other interested persons to exchange ideas about legal philosophy and legal theory.

The aim of MLP² is to improve and contribute to legal research by bringing into critical focus its basic concepts, assumptions and theories.

The main activities of our platform include the organization of
(1) open seminars, where members of Maastricht University or guest speakers present cutting edge research on theoretical or foundational issues and
(2) informal ‘library sessions’, where noteworthy papers from the wider field of law and philosophy are discussed.

In the selection of topics and the scheduling of its activities, MLP² wants to be responsive to the needs and interests of the research community. Suggestions for interesting topics and new research are therefore always welcome.

MLP² does not have membership; its seminars and meetings are generally open to all interested participants. It has an organising committee that works to provide the necessary space and preparation for the Platform’s activities.
